The One to Beat

 

I used to buy Eclipse Monthly whenever I would see it in bookstores or in discount bins way back when. This might be around 1986 or 1987, so it has long since ceased publication by the time I was buying it. I think I’ve managed to buy all the issues except for one or two. Among the regular features, my favorite was The Masked Man. It had a great balance of humor, action, and drama. Plus, I like street-level heroes a lot. Strangely enough, I used to see a lot of copies of Eclipse Monthly all over back then in my neck of the woods, but I hardly saw any copies of The Masked Man comic book series.

Rainbow Raider

 

Part two of our crossover! At the end of the DNAgents series, all of the team members were put in suspended animation. Rainbow, in particular, had a romantic relationship with Crossfire which started in the miniseries Crossfire and Rainbow. To top it off, it was revealed that Rainbow was pregnant before being put in storage! That was quite a bummer of an ending, and I would have preferred that these characters had a happier one.

Cross Dressing

 

This is the first part of a two issue crossover! Crossfire originally had a black skintight outfit but he was forced to destroy it to be able to get out of jail (not gonna get into the details here). So for the remainder of his series, he was just using the mask and was just dressed in an ordinary turtleneck and pants. For this imaginary story, I’ve put him back in his black costume, but with added body armor because he’s going to need it. Where is this heading? Come back in a few days to find out!

Miracle Misters

I only read parts of Miracleman's story in issues of Warrior Magazine, back when he was still known only as Marvelman. Later reprinted then continued by Eclipse Comics, I never bought those issues since Chuck Beckum/Austen's art didn't appeal to me, neither did Rick Veitch's work. The later John Totleben issues were a masterpiece, though. But Alan Davis is still the single artist I really think of when I see the character (not a knock on Garry Leach, who also did excellent work).

As for Stardust the Super Wizard, I only learned of him a few years ago, and the stories are bat-$#!+ crazy. Give his adventures a read at the Digital Comic Museum.
